AMOLED Displays
Like TFT LCD, AMOLED stands for active-matrix organic light-emitting diode. AMOLED displays use organic materials emitting light in response to an electric current. TFTs and IC control systems control each pixel’s current power.
AMOLED displays feature:
- Brighter screens
- higher contrast
- wider viewing angles
- faster response time
They have excellent image quality, especially in HDR content. Therefore, manufacturers use small AMOLED (below 5.5 inches) in applications like:
- Smartphones
- Smartwatches
- Gaming Consoles
- Augmented/virtual reality headsets
- Electronic viewfinders
- Industrial devices
